Write for us
We commission original editorials — not link dumps. If you write carefully about racism for people who live with it, pitch us. /contribute reaches this same page.
What we buy
- Feature editorials (~1,000–1,500 words) grounded in reporting, systems, institutions, and sourced findings
- Work that is useful to people targeted by racism — not outrage farming or “both-sides” theater
- Careful framing: lead with conduct and evidence; do not assert private intent unless a lawsuit, investigation, or your sources do
What this is not
- Submit a link — members point us at coverage elsewhere; that is free and unpaid
- SEO mill copy, AI-ghosted columns, or pieces that platform abuse
- Guaranteed frontpage placement for unsolicited drafts
Pay
Features: about $300–$600
Roughly $0.25–$0.50 per word for commissioned pieces that clear edit. Exact fee is agreed before you write. We pay on acceptance, not on pitch.
Budget is limited: we commission when membership and sponsorship revenue covers the desk. Published rates may pause if the month’s editorial fund is spent.
How to pitch
Email editors@racistnation.us with:
- One-paragraph idea + why it matters to people harmed by racism
- Your clips or a short writing sample (links fine)
- Word-count target and any reporting already in hand
- Whether you need a kill fee / timeline constraints
We reply if it fits. No need to attach a full draft on first contact. Full house rules: guidelines.
